For over thirty years the innovative, multisensory, TouchMath program has been quickly guiding students through basic math concepts: counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, story problems, time, money, fractions, and more. It is used internationally for regular classrooms pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second and Third grades to provide a firm foundation for young students, as well as Special Education and Intervention Programs in classrooms K-12 to remediate math difficulties for all students.
This dynamic, one-step-at-a-time TouchPoint approach integrates all senses as students see, say, hear, and touch math using only worksheets and a pencil.
Employing the use of pictorial objects and our exclusive trademarked TouchPoints, we teach children to associate numerals with their real value (number quantity). They begin to understand that the numeral five is not a word or a squiggle on a page; it represents something and has meaning—a quantity of five ladybugs, buttons, houses or TouchPoints. The easiest known way to help youngsters develop this connection is to incorporate numerals with actual quantities attached to the numeral itself.
Each digit from 1 through 9 has TouchPoints corresponding to the digit’s quantity. Numerals 1 through 5 use single TouchPoints, or dots. Numerals 6 through 9 use double TouchPoints symbolized by a dot inside of a circle.
